Sadly, Shannon died the day before her and long-term partner Jordan Burt's 11th anniversary together as they welcomed their new baby girl into the world.

But now, absolutely shattered and heartbroken Jordan, from Fife, has paid tribute to the 'love of his live'.

In a tear-jerking social media post, he wrote: "The 25th of April 2009 – I met my one and only true love, Shannon Napier, the most beautiful, intelligent and funny person I've ever met.

"It was love at first sight and we were just meant to be…

"We created dreams together, we achieved goals together and we were entering the next chapter of our lives.

"Today is our 11 year anniversary – you gave me the best possible present ever in our baby daughter, Abbie Tracy Lesley Burt.

"I'm just devastated that you can't be the mummy you've always wanted to be. I still can't believe you are gone, my wonderful fiancee.

"I just want to thank you for everything you've done for me since you walked in to my life; I wouldn't be where I am today without you.

"You've touched the lives of so many people, professionally and socially.

"You made me proud every single day: as the lyrics go, 'you are the reason I breathe, you are the reason I still believe' – you are my amazing #NHSHero and I'll be giving you the biggest round of applause ever on Thursday night baby.

"The NHS has lost a terrific young nurse who was so caring and compassionate and was only at the beginning of your journey to the very top.

"I'll never forget all those memories from the many days and hours we spent together.
