Michael Jackson used to visit hospitals to stare at newborns because it allowed him to 'see their souls' and give him energy
The King of Pop is known to have made numerous trips to children's hospitals and orphanages at the height of his career.
One nurse in a Santa Monica hospital explained that Jacko often visited to stare into the eyes of newborns, adding: "He feels then that he can really see their souls", Vanity Fair reports.
Nearly 17 years ago the singer agreed to travel to Exeter in the UK to give a speech, on the condition that "sick kids from hospitals" were allowed to join him.
Speaking at Exeter Football Club he said: "Hello to you wonderful people of Exeter.
“We come here to support children with Aids and help the people of Africa find a solution against the spread of HIV."
He feels then that he can really see their souls
In The Michael Jackson Tapes: A Tragic Icon Reveals His Soul In Intimate Conversation, the pop sensation admitted that it was "children all over the world – all children" that gave him comfort and strength after his own traumatic childhood.
A bombshell documentary called Leaving Neverland claiming Jackson abused kids will be broadcast on March 6 and 7 at 9pm on Channel 4.
The late singer's family have branded the documentary as "nonsense" and a "character assassination".
The two-part film, made by British filmmaker Dan Reed, contains interviews with two men who claim they were abused by Jackson when they were children.
The documentary details claims from Wade Robson, a choreographer who says Jackson began abusing him when he was 7, and James Safechuck, a former child actor who says the singer began molesting him when he was 10.
The documentary was branded a “horror film” after the four-hour film's debut revealed gruesome accounts from two of Jacko's alleged victims who are now in their 30s.
Leaving Neverland left audience members shocked with graphic abuse claims including how he allegedly gave a young boy jewellery in exchange for sex acts.
