Massive fire rips through Rachael Ray's New York home as celebrity chef describes desperate dash to escape with husband

A MASSIVE fire has ripped through the home of TV chef Rachael Ray as she made a desperate dash to escape.

Rachael managed to flee the inferno with her husband John Cusimano and their dog Bella as it tore through their home in upstate New York.

Pictures showed flames bursting out of the roof of the mansion as firefighters arrived on the scene at around 7pm.

The chef's home is located on theChuckwagon Trail in Lake Luzerne, north of Saratoga Springs.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown.

Rachael – who hosts her own talk show and presents Food Network series 30 Minute Meals – had been filming herself cooking from her home during the coronavirus pandemic.

At least 12 fire crews were deployed to tackle the blaze on Sunday evening as pictures show the mansion surrounded in smoke.

A retired fire official at the scene confirmed Rachael, 51, was at home when the fire broke out – but she was able to escape without injury, reports CBS17.

Representatives for the chef confirmed the blaze and said her home is "unfortunately damaged and we don't yet know to what extent".

Horrific pictures show large flames tearing through parts of the custom-built mansion which was designed by Rachael.

Firefighters remained on the scene four hours after the initial call as they dealt with the damage.

Hours before the blaze Rachael had posted on Instagram showing some lunch she had prepared while John had gone to play golf.

Mark Mulholland, a reporter, tweeted pictures of the fire and said it "does not look good".

The Rachael Ray Show has been on television since 2006 and is currently on its summer break.

It has won two Daytime Emmmys including, for Outstanding Talk Show in 2019.

She has also featured in the revival of Gilmore Girls, faced off against Guy Fieri in Celebrity Cook Off, and appeared on Oprah.

Rachael has previously called her Lake Luzerne home her "safe place" – and last month finally sold her $3.25million property in the Hamptons.

Rachael's rep Charlie Dougiello said: "Rachael, her husband and their dog Bella are safe.

"The house is unfortunately damaged and we don’t yet know to what extent."

Speaking about her home in a video tour, Rachael said: "I decorated the house before it was ever built.

"I drew the house on a piece of paper so I knew what I wanted it to be in my mind."

The huge open plan kitchen includes a six-burner gas stove and wood-fired pizza oven – she called these features her "treasures".

Her husband John fronts New York-based rock band The Cringe and has also appeared on her show making cocktails – co-authoring a book with her about mixology.

The fire is the latest blow to Rachael and John after they sadly lost their beloved dog Isaboo in May.

At the time Rachael said: "We feel like we have a family bigger then our zip code. Isaboo passed well and her soul must be overflowing with all the positive energy sent to her."

Sheriff Jim LaFarr confirmed there were no injuries in the fire.
