Katie Price slapped with driving ban despite begging judge to let her off because mum only has 'three years to live'
The 40-year-old today admitted driving while disqualified and without insurance while with two of her children after breaching a ban for speeding.
It comes just two days after she denied being drunk at the wheel of her £75k pink Range Rover when it crashed in Woolwich, South East London, in October last year.
She was given a £1,295 total fine and banned from driving for three months today – and will stand trial next month for the alleged drink-drive offence.
But she had begged a judge not to ban her from the roads because it will cause "a lot of hardship" for her when she tries to visit her terminally ill mum Amy.
The court was told she also needs to be able to ferry her son Harvey to hospital appointments.
Paul McCauley, defending, said: "[Her mum] as a lung disorder which causes her life expectancy to be less than three years.
“Her address is in the middle of nowhere, her mother lives 20 minutes away and she has to get between her mother’s address and her own address.
“The concept of not being able to do that will cause a lot of hardship for her.”
The former glamour model's misery began when she was disqualified for six months in February last year after she was clocked doing 60mph near her home in West Sussex.
But The Sun revealed pictures showing Price behind the wheel two weeks before the ban had expired – and she later blamed an “emotional rollercoaster” for the disastrous chain of events.
She pleaded guilty at Crawley Magistrates Court today to driving while disqualified and using a motor vehicle on a road without third party insurance on July 25.
The reality star, who was driven to court this morning in a black Mercedes, was given the minimum ban available and will have to pay a £1,100 fine plus £100 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
Price, who narrowly escaped bankruptcy last year, will have to pay the fine in 14 days after telling the court she was unable to cough up today.
Her lawyer told magistrates she mistakenly believed the ban had been imposed from an earlier hearing in January – which meant it would have ended in early July, before she got behind the wheel.
But she had not contacted the DVLA about reinstating her driving licence because she was "not the best" at paperwork, he told the court.
Wearing a cape with fur trim and matching cossack-style hat, Price hid behind large sunglasses as she made her way in for the hearing.
Handing her the ban, chairman of the bench Serena Stewart told her: "Our advice is not to drive until you have your licence in your hand."
Wracked with guilt, Price had handed herself into police when a Sun reporter questioned why she was behind the wheel despite her ban.
She was with her two youngest children, Jett and Bunny Hayler, when she made a 24-mile journey from Gatwick in a Ford Fiesta Finesse to her home in Horsham, West Sussex.
Price later wrote on Instagram: "My head has been all over the place, so much so, that I thought my driving ban was up.
“With this on my conscience I called police and reported myself. I’ve come such a long way and I just want an easy life now.
"I have got out of a hole and am finally happy and looking forward to being my old independent self!”
In June last year she was clocked doing 60mph on the 50mph A24 in her £75,000 pink Land Rover.
She failed to notify police when the speeding ticket came through. She was charged with failing to give driver information, and JPs gave her six penalty points.
Katie was also given a road ban because she previously had other offences on her licence.
It is the second time this week Price has been in the dock after she was slammed by a judge on Monday at Bromley Magistrates' Court.
The star was denied special treatment as she pleaded not guilty to a separate charge of drink-driving after asking to keep her address confidential.
She is accused of being double the limit when her £75,000 pink Range Rover crashed into a bush in Woolwich, South East London, in the early hours of October 10 last year.
The Loose Women panellist, of Horsham, Sussex, was breathalysed and allegedly found to have 69 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath after the crash. The legal limit is 35.
Price now faces trial over the offence and could be banned from driving if found guilty.
It follows a turbulent year for Katie after she split from husband Kieran Hayler and narrowly staved off bankruptcy.
