Inside a helicopter as it crash lands at a beach resort, killing pedestrian

A pedestrian was killed when a helicopter crash landed at a popular beach resort in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Footage, from inside the helicopter, shows the terrifying moment the emergency on-board alarm suddenly sounds, as the chopper begins to fall out the sky.

The video, taken by tourist Vivian Carolina Cataldo, 34, during what was supposed to be a panoramic tour of the town of Ubatuba, also shows the moment the helicopter hits the ground.

The pilot, Vivian and her husband Paulo Thiago, 38, survived the crash with minor injuries, according to local media.

But the Robinson R44 Raven II hit pedestrian Alessandro Correia Leite, 42, who died at the scene.

Vivian and her husband were taken to the local Santa Casa hospital and have since been discharged.

The pilot did not require treatment.

An investigation has been launched into the cause of the accident with the police working alongside the Brazilian Air Force to try and clear up the incident.

According to reports, the helicopter tour was organised by Helicon who said they regretted the incident and added they would help support the family of the victim.

The victim’s father, Antonio Correa Leite Neto, said: "I had just had a coffee with him.

"He left and and I stayed to have a lie down in my room."

"I heard the sound and I shouted to my other son," he continued.

"It was the normal sound of a helicopter, but at the same time I heard a different noise.

"I left shouting for my son to call the fire service as there was someone on the ground.

"I walked close by but I did not see initially that it was my son."

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
