Heartstopping dashcam shows car being sent flying across M4 in 100mph road rage smash

HEARTSTOPPING dashcam footage shows a car being sent flying across the M4 in a 100mph road rage smash.

At the start of the horror cliptwo motorists are seen repeatedly undertaking and tailgating each other along the eastbound carriageway near Port Talbot last June.

Moments later the video shows the blue Mini careering into the side and flipping over leaving the car battered and glass smashed.

PC Kathryn Matthews of the South Wales Police Roads Policing Unit said it was "sheer luck" that the two men escaped unscathed.

The motorists were today convicted of dangerous driving after expert witness evidence showed that Sebury drove his blue Mini and Carpenter his Ford Mondeo at speeds of upto 101mph shortly before the crash.

It is sheer luck that nobody was killed or seriously injured and the dash cam footage of the incident sends out a clear message about the consequences of driving in such an irresponsible manner

Paul Carpenter, 44, from Boxhill in Surrey, and Wayne Sebury, 59, from Pontypridd, initially denied any wrongdoing but later pleaded guilty to dangerous driving.

Appearing at Cardiff Crown Court, Carpenter was sentenced to six months in prison and disqualified from driving for 18 months.

Sebury was given an 18 month community order and disqualified for 12 months. He must also carry out 150 hours unpaid work.

PC Matthews said: “This incident was a classic case of road rage where two motorists have driven dangerously, at high speeds, undertaking, tailgating and flashing their lights.

“It is sheer luck that nobody was killed or seriously injured and the dash cam footage of the incident sends out a clear message about the consequences of driving in such an irresponsible manner.”
