Giraffe protects pair’s modesty as they mate in front of photographers
No rubbernecking! Giraffe protects frisky pair’s modesty as they mate in front of wildlife photographers in Namibia
- The image was captured in Namibia by married wildlife photographers, Andrea, 61, and Antonella Ferrari, 59
- The couple saw the giraffes mating while on safari but a third giraffe stood in the way to prevent the shot
- However the third giraffe – either a good friend or an interested onlooker – actually gave them a better one
A giraffe gave wildlife photographers the perfect photograph when he stepped in to protect the modesty of a mating pair from their lenses and created a beautifully symmetrical image.
Husband and wife wildlife photographers, Andrea, 61, and Antonella Ferrari, 59 spotted the frisky giraffes while on safari at Etosha National Park in Namibia.
The couple said: ‘Indeed it seems like the third giraffe is covering the pair’s modesty. However maybe he’s an interested onlooker’.
‘The fan shape created by the three giraffes heads is what struck us when we took this photo,’ Andrea and Antonella explained.
‘In fact, the behaviour of the mating pair in the background was not really that important to us at the moment – we were most interested, above all, in the peculiar symmetry of the image, which gave it interest and visual appeal.’
