Four North Devon seaside parking spaces up for sale at £10,000 EACH

Hot spot! Four North Devon seaside parking spaces hit the market for ‘ludicrous’ price of £10,000 EACH

  • The estate agents say it is an ‘ideal opportunity’ and a ‘superb location’
  • Positioned in Westward Ho! resort that was seen in Britain’s Parking Hell show
  • Council chairman feels Estate Agents Morris and Bott’s offer is ‘ludicrous’
  • The deadline to apply for one of the spaces is midday on September 27

Parking spaces in the popular resort of Westward Ho! in Devon are on sale for £10,000 each.

The four spaces on Pebbleridge Road in North Devon are just meters from the 2.5km long, Blue Flag beach, while also in the same village from Channel 5’s Britain’s Parking Hell programme.

Estate Agents Morris and Bott are overseeing the sale and their advert says: ‘We are delighted to offer the freehold interest of four individual parking spaces within a superb location in Pebbleridge Road just a stone’s throw from Westward Ho! beach.

The beaches are just meters from the carpark which is the main selling point but the council’s vice-chairman Peter Christie calls the £10,000 price-tag ‘ludicrous’

‘An ideal opportunity for those nearby without the benefit of parking or purchasers seeking a private space close to the beach. Each parking space is offered in excess of £10,000 by an informal tender.

‘Please note, VAT is payable on the eventual purchase.’

They are located next to a stretch of land which was purchased by Torridge District Council to create a public car park.

But despite the agents faith in the ‘ideal opportunity’ the council’s vice chairman Peter Christie is receiving lots of questions about why this offer even has legs.

This is the same village where Rob Braddick (pictured) bought a long lease on a car park and instantly scrapped all charges in 2016

She said: ‘Personally I think the price seems ludicrous – but there again what do I know?

‘The spaces are actually on land sold to a private developer before the council purchased the rest of the land for a car park and they are nothing to do with the council.’

They are located within the village where businessman Rob Braddick purchased land and set up a free carpark for locals in Britain’s Parking Hell in 2016. He threw an opening party for his ‘twice as free’ car park near Seafield House and close to his pub and Restaurant, the Pier House.

Anyone interested in purchasing one of the spaces has until midday on September 27 to apply.
