Former Coronation Street director 'asked girl, 13, to send explicit images'

Tim Dowd, 66, also allegedly encouraged her to have phone sex with him.

Mr Dowd worked on Coronation Street until 2018 after 24 years as a director on the soap.

Dowd is also thought have work on episodes of Emmerdale and Casualty.

He thought “Chantelle” was a girl in a care home last year but he was actually talking to an undercover cop, Leeds crown court was told.

Dowd, of Harrogate, North Yorks, claims he believed she was 16 or over.

He denies trying to incite a child into sexual activity. The trial continues.
