David Hale and Laura Cooper testify in Trump impeachment probe

The second round of Wednesday’s public hearings in the Trump impeachment probe kicked just before 6 p.m.

Witnesses David Hale, the under secretary of State for political affairs, and Laura Cooper, a deputy assistant secretary of defense, will offer testimony in what is the fourth day of public hearings.

Their testimony follows the earlier testimony from Ambassador Gordon Sondland, who said that he raised concerns about a “quid pro quo” that tied a White House visit for Ukraine’s president to investigations President Trump wanted in Joe Biden.

But Sondland later said under cross-examination from Rep. Devin Nunes and staff counsel that President Trump told him during a September phone call that Trump “wanted nothing” from Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky.
