Cyclist cheats death when he is hit on the head by an overturning lorry as its driver swerves to avoid him

A teenager on a bicycle cheated death when a lorry hit his head after overturning on a busy road.
The incident happened at a crossroad on Puning Avenue in China’s southern province of Guangdong.
Traffic camera footage shows the 17-year-old, only named as Chen, cycling straight through the middle of the road when a lorry driven by Mr Xiao approaches from his left-hand side.

The driver swerves to avoid the cycling teen but his lorry loses balance and overturns onto its right side.
The video shows a few bikes and people crossing the road safely, before the young cyclist is walloped on the head.
The teenager can be seen stopping in the middle of the junction and he tries to duck as the trailer flips and hits him on the back of his head, causing him to fall to the ground.
The driver tried to swerve to avoid hitting the teenager but the lorry overturned onto its side
In the footage, Chen can be seen standing back up but lying down again shortly after.
Crowds of onlookers gather in the area but not many people seem to stop by to help the teenager at first.
Most people gather standing or on their bikes at the sides of the road, while a man gets closer to Chen.
The 17-year-old, named Chen, fell to the ground in the middle of the road after the incident
Subsequent footage shows the teenager conscious, but bleeding from the mouth as he remains on the ground.
He temporarily closes his eyes while onlookers around him keep talking.
Puning police said the boy suffered minor injuries and was treated at a local hospital.
Several people observed the scene standing or on their bikes but not many got close to the injured teenager
In the footage, Chen can be seen standing up before lying down again shortly after
Local media reports said he ‘cheated death’.
The incident happened on November 22.
Lorry driver Mr Xiao is not thought to have been harmed during the crash, which is still being investigated.
The authorities did not say whether either party was suspected of having run a red light before the incident.
