Cruel mom ‘kicked her screaming baby across the floor as dad filmed’ before relatives turned parents in to cops – The Sun

A HORRIFIC video shows a one-year-old boy being kicked by his mother as the child's father recorded and watched.

Kristine Long and Wayne Weyant Jr. were arrested after a family member reported them, according to cops.

The video appears to show Long kicking the screaming baby inside the home. He appears to fall forward on his hands, according to the News Journal, as she takes a seat on the couch.

Relatives say Weyant picked up the child, according to WDEL, but that is not clear from the video.

"From our perspective, it did not look like an accident," Delaware CIty Police Chief David Baylor told the News Journal.

"The father was A, videotaping the incident, and then B, he did not report the matter to police or the Division of Family Services."

The police chief added that "our job is to protect themselves when parents, in our opinion, do not take the role of protecting their own child, then it's up to law enforcement in the state to do that."

"We conducted our own investigation and said, 'we have to do something,'" Baylor told the newspaper.

"That's why we took the arrest route."

The couple was taken into custody earlier this week and charged with child endangerment, but were released Wednesday following their arraignment.

Cops said they were unable to find out if the child was injured because the suspected assault took place one week earlier, according to WDEL.

Long, 31, and Weyant, 25,  are not allowed to have any contact with the child, who is being cared for by another family member.
