Creamfields festivalgoers make the most of the ‘swamp-like’ conditions as mud takes over

  • The ten minute shower that hit the Cheshire festival was described as ‘biblical’ 
  • Some were racing each on air mattresses through the muddy seas 

Music fanatics made the most of mud as the Cheshire festival was hit with ‘biblical’ downpour only hours into the weekend.

It isn’t only Shrek who enjoys swamp-like conditions, evidently Creamfields partyers do too.

The electronic dance lovers could be seen racing each other on air mattresses through the marshy mud-covered floor, while onlookers harmoniously cheered.

The festival revelers did not let the poor weather and mucky conditions get them down either.

Festivalgoers didn’t let adverse weather or poor conditions get them down. Some used air mattresses to race through the sea of muddy water

Others didn’t need a mattress and were drenched from head to toe in dark-brown mud

In one video, a man can be seen drenched from heat to toe in dark-brown running and proceeding to dive into a huge puddle of muck whilst being encouraged by a jeering crowd of youngsters.

But not everybody was diving into the muddy sea to make the best out of a bad bout of weather – some took to TikTok to make light of it.

Four youngsters can be seen recreating trekking through the muddy conditions as the lip-sync the notorious audio of RTE broadcaster Teresa Manion reporting on Storm Desmond before she is hit with a stop sign.

The three can be seen stomping through the muddy puddles while they mouth, ‘Don’t make unnecessary journeys. Don’t take risks and treacherous roads.

They showcase the swamp-like scenery behind them as they said: ‘And don’t swim in the sea.’

But not everyone was happy about the marshy surroundings with many branding the electronic dance festival as ‘Mudfest 2023’.

One person called a ‘big game of stuck in the mud.’

Despite being covered in entrenched by mud and water Creamfields festival was only hours in when it was hit by ten minutes of rain.

One festival attendee told the Liverpool Echo: ‘Lashing it down here is an understatement.’ while the publications photographer described the downpour as ‘biblical’. 

But the adverse weather conditions did not stop there.

A couple of not-so happy camper mistook a large funnel cloud twirling among the looming grey clouds at 1.41pm for a tornado.

One wrote: ‘There’s just been a tornado here at Creamfields. Thank god it didn’t touch down.’

Coupled with a video, another added: ‘Spotted this over Creamfields..#tornado?’
