It comes as James Bond fans mourned the loss of co-star Tania Mallet who died last week at the age of 77.

Tania is the first cousin of fellow British actress Helen Mirren, who recently said her ‘dream role’ would be a James Bond villain.

Ms Regin moved to the UK with her husband in the 1950s but was unable to speak English, according to 007 Magazine.

Nadja played Bonita in the 1964 spy thriller Goldfinger before moving on to star in several British TV shows, including The Benny Hill Show and The Avengers.

Born in 1931, the actress graduated from The Academy of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade, Serbia, and began her acting career as a student.

She started off in small productions in Yugoslavia and Germany before heading to England where she would land her iconic movie roles.

She made her debut on the big screen when starring in From Russia with Love, as the mistress of Kerim Bey, who was the British Secret Service’s station ‘T’ in Istanbul played by the late actor Pedro Armendariz.

In a 2017 interview, Ms Regin said: ‘In the film From Russia With Love, I played the girlfriend of Pedro Armendariz’s character in the movie.

‘He was very sick at the time and in a lot of pain due to his cancer. He asked the director Terence Young to keep him in the movie so that his family could receive the salary.

‘I have to honour Terence Young for re-arranging the entire film shooting and taking a big risk by putting all scenes with Pedro in one place, in order to spare him as he was in a lot of pain.’

She also starred in a smaller but still notable appearance as Bonita the dancer in Goldfinger in 1964.

In the film, she is a beautiful belly dancer who dances at the El Scorpio nightclub in Mexico

However, it is later revealed she works for Mr Ramirez, a heroin smuggler who works nearby.

An iconic depicts Bond entering Bonita’s dressing room and finding her in the bath before they prepare to make love, as Bonita convinces him to take his gun off.

But the dancer double-crosses him and sets him up, but Bond sees an assassin creeping up on him in Bonita’s eye and uses her as a shield to block the blow.

Speaking about her role as Bonita, She told 007 Magazine: ‘I didn’t have dance lessons but a lady showed me how to use the castanets.

‘It was a lovely costume! I came out the bath, we had a kiss, he (Connery) pushed me and that was it really. When I was on the set, there would be publicity photos taken quite often. It was fun, but I didn’t take it all that seriously.’

In the 1970s, Ms Regin read and selected film scripts for production by companies including Rank Films and Hammer Films.

She later founded a publishing company with her sister in the 1980s and would spend much of her life writing.
