Arrogant passenger RUNS onto tarmac demanding to be let on plane after showing up late forcing pilot to kill engine | The Sun

A WOMAN who ran onto the tarmac at a busy airport demanding to be let on a plane forced the pilot to kill the jet engine just in time.

Shocking footage shows the passenger sprinting towards the aircraft and shouting up at the pilot before she was arrested on Wednesday.

The arrogant woman allegedly pushed past airport security to get out onto the runway before running under the nose of the plane.

Onlookers watched on in disbelief as she seemed to shout up at the pilot to let her onto the flight, leaving from Canberra Airport in Australia.

But the pilot luckily killed the engine just in time, before anyone could get hurt.

The woman turns and runs away from the jet after it becomes apparent she won't be allowed on the flight.

Another shocked witness, Simon Hales, said: "She's trying to yell at the pilot, she's trying to get his attention and jump up, it was bizarre."

He described the arrogant behaviour in a post on social media.

"A lady who had missed her flight clearly thought she could still catch it," he wrote.

"[She] pushed past the staff at the door, ran down onto the tarmac and ran up to the plane.

"Luckily the pilot was warned or spotted her and killed the engine."

The flight, which was bound for Adelaide, was briefly delayed before cops arrested the woman at around 7.30pm.

All other flights in the airport were pushed back by around ten minutes.

Australian Federal Police, who have opened an investigation into the bizarre incident, have said they will provide more details "at an appropriate time".

The strange footage comes just months after two arrogant cruise ship passengers demanded the ship turn around after they showed up late for departure.

The two late arriving passengers begged the captain to let them come on board as they stood stranded on a fenced platform.

The man and woman shouted: "Sir Captain, please."

But with the gangway already hauled in, the latecomers were denied access, local media reports.

And the woman in Canberra is not the only person to have run across the tarmac at an airport.

A Ryanair passenger did the same at Madrid airport in an attempt to catch his flight.

The man ran past the other planes on the runway carrying two pieces of hand luggage in a desperate attempt to board his flight.

Although he, surprisingly, was able to board the plane and reach his destination.

He was however slapped with a hefty fine as a result.

Five years ago, another passenger ran onto the tarmac at an Australian airport.

But the result was somewhat scarier, as the man tried to smash his way onto the wrong plane.

The fuming traveller charged up the outdoor steps leading to the parked plane before trying to wrench the door open.
