American boy, 7, attacked by group of 12 wild dogs on beach on Thailand family vacation – The Sun

AN AMERICAN boy is recovering in hospital after he was attacked by a pack of 12 wild dogs in Thailand.

Nolan Anderson, 7, joined his father who was jogging out in front of the sea in Krabi, southern Thailand, last Saturday morning.

But when the youngster sat down to play in the sand as his father exercised, more than a dozen ravenous mutts suddenly pounced on him.

The terrified child screamed for help as the dogs mauled him and teared into his flesh – leaving him with multiple bite wounds.

The most serious injury was sustained under his left armpit from where he had raised his hands to protect his face from the wild dogs.

Nolan’s father helped to fight off the dogs and rushed his son to a nearby hospital.

The boy received multiple medications – including anti-rabies shots – and was ordered to remain under the watch of doctors for up to five days.

Hotel owner Arun Pongprayoon visited the family last Sunday afternoon, taking snacks and toys to cheer up the injured boy.

Provincial governor Kitibodee Prawit also ordered the public health staff to capture the dogs.

Wardens were reportedly ordered to use tranquillizer darts to incapacitate the dogs if necessary.

The official said: "I ordered the authorities to capture the dogs because we need to examine whether they were carrying a disease or not.

"Seven dogs have now been sent to the provincial office and the team is finding the rest.

''We wanted to apologize to the family for this incident and we have promised to take good care of them during the treatment.

In February last year, a five-year-old Eemi Nikula, from Finalnd, had been playing on the nearby Ao Nang beach in Krabiwith his father Appo Nikula, 30, and two brothers when he was mauled by stray dogs.

Eemi had 10 bite wounds and scratches over his body, two gashes to his throat, deep tears on his back and bottom, and a 5cm wound on his leg.
