Alesha MacPhail's emotional mum wears heart-shaped pendant of her tragic girl as she breaks down outside court

Little Alesha was discovered dead in woodland on July 2 on the Isle of Bute where she had been spending a summer break with her dad and grandparents.

Today, mum Georgina Lochrane wept as she left the High Court in Glasgow where she saw her daughter's 16-year-old killer – who cannot be named for legal reasons – found guilty.

In memory of her daughter, the mum wore a silver necklace that contained an image of her little girl's face.

Clutching a drink bottle, the devastated mum was overcome with emotion after hearing the teen condemned by Judge Lord Williams for committing "some of the wickedest most evil crimes this court has ever seen."

The court heard little Alesha's mum Georgina Lochrane suffered nightmares over what happened to her daughter.

Devastated mum Georgina today said in a statement she would miss her daughter "forever".

The mum said: "Words cannot express just how devastated I am to have lost my beautiful, happy, smiley wee girl.

"I am glad that the boy who did this has finally been brought to justice and that he will not be able to inflict the pain on another family that he has done to mine.

"Alesha, I love you so much, my wee pal. I will miss you forever."

Advocate Depute Iain McSporran, who led the prosecution, said that having a child taken in such a "bestial manner" was "infathomable".

He read excerpts from a victim impact statement which said her mother suffered nightmares about what had been done to her daughter and her father Robert MacPhail had experienced "insufferable pain".

In a separate statement, the MacPhail family said: "We can't believe that we will never see our wee angel Alesha again. We miss her so much.

"We hope that the boy who took her from us is jailed for a long time because of what he has done to our family.

"Alesha may be gone from our lives but she will always be in our hearts."

Emotions ran high at Glasgow's High Court as the convicted teen was taken away, with Alesha's dad Robert reportedly shouting: "f***ing scumbag".

INNOCENCE SNATCHED

The heartbreaking family tributes come as the teen killer was found guilty despite trying to feed the jury a "pack of lies".

The teen even callously tried pinning the brutal murder on Toni McLachlan – the girlfriend of Alesha's dad Robert.

But the panel saw through him and the teenager was today convicted after just four hours at Glasgow's High Court of abducting, raping and murdering Alesha on July 2 last year.

Little Alesha had been staying with her dad and grandparents on the Isle of Bute when she feel asleep watching a Peppa Pig DVD.

The boy – drunk from a house party – stole a knife from his mum's kitchen and swiped Alesha from her bed.

A "shadowy figure" was later captured on CCTV carrying a mystery object – believed to be Alesha – across the shoreline at Rothesay on the night she vanished.

Once at the site of a former hotel, the twisted killer removed the girl's clothes and shook her "violently" as he covered her nose, mouth and neck with his hands.

Alesha suffered 117 injuries on her little body and died from "forceful pressure to her neck and face".
