Why did Solange Knowles cancel her Coachella 2019 performance and how is she related to Beyonce?

SOLANGE Knowles disappointed fans by announcing her set at Coachella would be cancelled.

Here's everything you need to know about what was behind the last minute decision…

Why did Solange Knowles cancel her Coachella 2019 performance?

On April 8, 2019 just a week before Coachella, Solange announced that she would be cancelling her hotly-anticipated performance.

The singer attributed the decision to "major production delays."

Coachella's official account posted on Twitter: "Due to major production delays

"Solange will unfortunately no longer be performing at this year's festival.

"She sends her sincerest apologies, and looks forward to performing at Coachella in the future."

Solange joined Beyonce on stage during her set at last year's Coachella and they famously fell over as Beyonce tried to pick her up.

How is Solange related to Beyonce?

Solange is Beyonce's little sister.

The 32-year-old was born five years after big sis Beyonce.

The siblings are famously close and have collaborated together, with Solange joining Bey on tour and featuring in music videos such as Get Me Bodied and Naive.

In 2017 Solange made the headlines with her infamous lift fight with Beyonce's hubbie Jay-Z, which fans speculated was the inspiration behind his album title 4:44.

When is Coachella 2019?

Coachella takes place over two three-day weekends in the summer.

This year, Weekend One runs from April 12-14, and Weekend Two from April 19-21.

The line-up is the same over both weekends, so those lucky enough to have tickets won't miss out no matter what date they're visiting.

Where is Coachella 2019?

The annual music event is held in the Coachella Valley in the Riverside County city of Indio, near Palm Springs California.

It's technically a metropolitan area of LA, although the desert landscape certainly makes it seem baron.

The event has five different music stages, a giant food hall and a huge camping area with its own showers, wifi, toilets, stores, phone charging stations and more.

Around 500,000 people attend the festival every year.
