MARTT Clarkson is a new character in Eastenders who's at the centre of a harrowing rape storyline after he attacked Ruby Allen.

Who is Matt Clarkson in EastEnders?

Matt Clarkson is a friend of Martin Fowler’s from his school days at Walford High.

They can’t have been very good friends as viewers haven’t seen Matt on the Square before – or even heard Martin talk about him.

He made his first appearance when Martin attended a school reunion held at the E20 club, which he persuades Stacey and Ruby to come along too.

Matt was also joined by Martin’s other former classmates, Glenn and Ross.

Ruby and Matt were seen dancing and flirting before Martin and Stacey left the club and Ruby continued to party with the boys.

Did Matt rape Ruby in Eastenders?

The morning after the party Stacey was concerned about Ruby when she saw her buying the morning after pill. 

Stacey then found out that Ruby slept with Ross because she felt she "owed him" – but that was only half of the story.

She went on to tell her friend that she passed out, and when she came round, Matt was on top of her, having sex with her.

Ruby feels ashamed and blames herself for getting so wasted, but Stacey reassured her that that she’s done nothing wrong  – she was raped.

Ross and Matt have denied the allegations, Martin is doubting her version of events, but Stacey is sticking firmly by her friend.

Who plays Matt Clarkson in EastEnders?

Matt is portrayed by British actor Mitchell Hunt, 30, who was born in Colchester and brought up in South East London.

He’s previously appeared in EastEnders back in 2011 when he played a character called Lee.

Mitchell is best known for his role as Kyle Bigsby in Hollyoaks. Kyle outed Harry Thompson in 2015 when he was dating Cleo McQueen.

Mitchell also starred in ITV drama Mr. Selfridge in 2016 as Joe Tooby.
