Who are the Bafta 2019 Outstanding British Film nominees?
The film industry has produced some stellar work this year.
To be eligible for nomination as Outstanding British Film, a movie "must have significant creative involvement by individuals who are British".
Here's the shortlist of the best British work as selected by the institution:
- Psychological thriller, Beast
- Biography of the rock band Queen, Bohemian Rhapsody
- Historical period comedy-drama about Queen Anne, The Favourite
- Biographical film of fashion designer Alexander McQueen, McQueen
- Film about famous comedy duo Laurel and Hardy, Stan and Ollie
- Psychological crime thriller starring Joaquin Phoenix, You Were Never Really Here
What are the latest odds on the winner?
If the Golden Globes are anything to go by then it looks like The Favourite is likely to take the crown.
And according to bookies William Hill, the actress Olivia Colman could also lift a gong.
The bookies odds are as follows:
- The Favourite – 4/6
- Bohemian Rhapsody – 9/2
- Stan & Ollie – 8/1
- You Were Never Really Here – 12/1
- McQueen -16/1
- Beast – 20/1
But fans and nominees alike will have to wait until February 10, 2019, to discover who will take the famous mask home.
When are this year's Bafta awards?
This year's Bafta awards will take place on February 10 at London's Royal Albert Hall.
Since 2002 the ceremony has been held in February to precede the Oscars and Ampas (Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences).
This is to ensure they take place during the film industry's awards season.
Before that they had been held in April or May.
