Today’s Craig Melvin breaks down in tears about kids missing their teachers ‘so much’ during pandemic – The Sun
TODAY news anchor, Craig Melvin, broke down in tears during a segment of the show where kids claimed to miss their school teachers 'so much.'
Despite their distance, the other hosts of the show offered some words of encouragement as he admitted that the effects of the coronavirus pandemic have made him emotional.
One more day, one more anchor in tears as they talked about a coronavirus story.
Today, Craig got emotional as he talked to his fellow Today Show hosts about an elementary school librarian who got a sweet surprise by the students from the school she works in.
Seeing the librarian so emotional made him break down as he talked.
He explained: "The story is so moving because kids miss their teachers so much and teachers miss their kids just as much.
"For us who have small kids and you see this every day, it's hard, man. So little things like that.
"Just thanks to all the teachers out there who are going there the extra mile."
Hoda Kotb first laughed it off and expressed how much she loved him, while Savannah Guthrie told him "we're wrapping our arms around you."
And of course, Al Roker told him "to hang in there" and it was sweet to see him so emotionally connected to a story.
Savannah quickly added: "It's so true. We all love our teachers so much, we're all so tender right now!
"We just love everybody, I'm right there with you, Craig. I'm also in tears."
Fans actually applauded the news anchor for showing true emotion, especially in a time where people are so physically separated from each other.
One viewer wrote: "Love that Craig can be so real. Sometimes guys can have a hard time showing emotions.
"So glad he's the real deal."
While another one commented: "This was the best! Loved seeing Craig be vulnerable. This time is tough on everyone.
"I hope nationwide parents now have an understanding of who teachers are, and how much more they deserve."
