‘The Kominsky Method’ Renewed For Season 2 By Netflix
It took awhile but Netflix has officially renewed Chuck Lorre’s single-camera comedy series The Kominsky Method, starring Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin, for a second season. It will consist of 8 episodes and will start production late January 2019 in Los Angeles. (See the video announcement above).
The renewal comes two months after The Kominsky Method‘s 8-episode first season was released and 10 days after it became the first Netflix show to score a best comedy series win at the Golden Globes where it also nabbed a lead actor in a comedy series trophy for Douglas.
As we reported last week, the delay in the pickup was due to a back-and-forth between Netflix and producing studio Warner Bros. TV over its size, with the Internet network lobbying for an expanded second season of as many as 13 episodes. In the end, the order stayed the same as Season 1, eight episodes.
The Kominsky Method, about an aging former actor-turned-acting coach (Douglas) and his agent and friend (Arkin), co-stars Sarah Baker and Nancy Travis, with the quartet all set to return as series regulars in Season 2.
Creator Lorre executive produces with Al Higgins and Douglas for Chuck Lorre Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.
In addition to its three Golden Globe nominations and two wins, The Kominsky Method was selected as one of AFI’s TV Programs of the Year 2018 and received 2 Critics’ Choice nominations.
