The Big Bang Theory: ‘Get it right Penny’ fans rage after finding Sheldon Cooper plot hole

Fans of The Big Bang Theory may think they know everything there is to know about Dr Sheldon Cooper (played by Jim Parsons) after following the character for the entire twelve year run of the CBS show. However, there is one rather confusing plot hole that has come to light. When is Sheldon’s real birthday?

In the first season’s sixteenth episode, titled The Peanut Reaction, Sheldon gets into a heated debate on horoscopes with Penny Hofstadter (Kaley Cuoco), which lead to Penny revealing his birthday.

He claims astrology is fake and that horoscopes have no scientific grounding whatsoever, with Penny sitting the other side of the fence.

To this Penny responds: “Blah blah blah, typical Taurus.”

Unable to convince the waitress, Sheldon ultimately drops the argument, but later episodes seem to dispute Sheldon being a Taurus.

For Sheldon to be a Taurus he would have to have been born between April 20 and May 20, which true fans will know cannot be the case.

It seems even showrunners may have spotted the plot error, as later in season eight Penny correctly refers to Sheldon as a Pisces.

However, the continuity error didn’t go a miss from die hard fans of the show, with one user taking the matter to Reddit.

One user posted: “Wait, how the hell can Sheldon be both a Taurus and a Pisces? Penny switches between the two halfway through the show.”

Another fan responded: “Yeah I noticed that – obviously a mistake. Sheldon would’ve corrected Penny the first time if it was simply a case of her not knowing his birthday.”

A third fan joked: “Lol Sheldon would be so mad at us even debating this as he thinks horoscopes are trash.”

A fourth took a shot at Penny, writing: “Get it right Penny, you can’t just make them up as you go along!”

Meanwhile, Raj Koothrappali star Kunal Nayyar has opened up about the time he met Queen Elizabeth II back in 2017.
