Strictly’s Kevin Clifton fights back tears as he returns to life without Stacey

Strictly Come Dancing champion Kevin Clifton was overcome with emotion as he bid farewell to the only dance partner to help him scoop the Glitterball Trophy – Stacey Dooley.

The 36-year-old lad from Grimsby fought back tears as he and 31-year-old investigative journalist Stacey swapped compliments.

Having made it to the Strictly final four times before, it was the 2018 competition that saw Kevin lift the trophy alongside Stacey.

And it seems romping to victory with the BBC star means the future will not be as bright – as the thrice divorced hunk now faces a future without Stacey by his side.

“I don’t want it to finish, I don’t want this series to end,” the dance professional declared as his eyes watered during the final of the show.

“I don’t want to stop dancing with Stace,” he added.

He also said to his co-winner: “You’re so lovely and I just think the absolute world of you.”

Meanwhile Stacey had nothing but good things to say to Kevin either.

“I think you’re the biggest gent. It’s no coincidence he’s been in the final as many times as he has. You are patient, you are talented. Your choreography is second to none,” she gushed.

“You so deserve this! You so deserve this win!” she added.

It is unclear if Kevin (who this year split with wife and fellow Strictly dance pro Karen Clifton and was previously married to professional dancer Clare Craze and was married once before that) will return to Strictly in 2019.

Rumours have swirled that 2018 could be his last year on the show – however he hit out at the speculation on Twitter in early December, declaring: “I’m not going anywhere.”
