Strictly fears Oti Mabuse may quit after being left 'devastated' over reports of her friendship with Kelvin Fletcher
STRICTLY bosses fear Oti Mabuse could consider quitting the show amid reports of her friendship with champion-dance partner Kelvin Fletcher.
Sun Online understands the 29-year-old is “devastated” at claims there is anything going on between her and the former Emmerdale actor who walked away with the glitter ball trophy in December.
Kelvin’s wife, Liz Marsland, was reportedly “fuming” after pictures emerged showing Kelvin ushering Oti into a hotel room at 3am.
She later appeared in public without wearing her wedding ring – although pictures later showed her kissing her husband at a train station and she insisted she only removed the jewellery so she could get a fake-tan.
Yesterday a source on the BBC programme said top-brass were now worried that the rumours will leave Oti considering whether her future may lie away from the show.
“Oti is a massive asset for the show,” our source said. “But at the moment she is very unhappy and upset at all the reports and has been left saying ‘do I really need all this BS?’.
“She is married and has a lot of respect for Kelvin’s wife and wouldn’t carry on in this way.
“They are dance partners and friends and that’s it. Some people close to Oti are worried she will just eventually throw her hands up and pack it in.
She has a great TV career in her own right on the Greatest Dancer and there would be a queue of producers lining up to work with her.
Plus she’s won Strictly so what else is there left to achieve? She also appreciates and understands that after getting Kelvin this series she’s very unlikely to be placed with a favourite when the new series starts. It will leave Oti with a lot of thinking to do.”
The source said that Oti has already had to endure reports of favouritism after her sister, Motsi, was put on the judging panel.
“Oti joined Strictly to dance,” our source said. “All the other stuff that has come along is not what she signed up for at all.
"She doesn’t need all the stress but the BBC will be desperate to hold on to her.
"She is massively popular with viewers and everyone working on the show loves her too.”
The Sun Online has contacted a representative for Strictly for comment.
