Rylan Clark's real name revealed as he says he's trying to be 'a little more real' now | The Sun

SHOWBIZ watchers all know the name Rylan Clark – though you might not have heard his real name.

The 33-year-old Strictly and This Morning star is really called Ross Richard, with his mum the only one you are likely to have heard use the name.

Linda let it slip during an appearance on Celebrity Gogglebox when she told him: "Ross will you stop it."

However, Rylan – aka Ross – says he's recently been trying to "introduce" the two personalities to one another.

His new book Ten even has a chapter called Ross Meet Rylan and he says they are "two different people".

The star explained: "Rylan is all smiles, always in make-up. Ross is a bit more Peroni, one hand down the tracksuit. That is Ross."

Speaking to Strictly co-star Claudia Winkleman in London to promote his book last night he said: "It is important to me as when I finished the book and did the Ross Meet Rylan chapter I think it was important to bring a bit more of me back."

Rylan was born Ross in London's East End back in 1988 but initially went by the equally unique name Kielan in his early modelling days.

He settled on Rylan after visiting a branch of WH Smith and rifling through the 'R' section of a book of baby names.

It was the name we knew him by when he appeared on the reality show Signed By Katie Price, where members of the public competed to be signed by the reality star's management company.

He appeared alongside Ex On The Beach's Jemma Henley and I'm A Celeb star Amy Willerton in the show's second episode in 2011.

Rylan came runner-up to Amy, 29, before auditioning for The X Factor the following year where he made the quarter-finals.

Next, Celebrity Big Brother beckoned, memorably breaking down in tears after being announced as the winner.

That helped him bag a hosting role on the show's Big Brother's Bit On The Side spin-off show.

A string of hosting gigs, including presenting spots, followed and now the star is hard to avoid in the TV schedules.

He now hosts Supermarket Sweep, Strictly spin-off It Takes Two, Eurovision, Ready Steady Cook and, alongside his mum, Celebrity Gogglebox.

Rylan also delighted fans this summer when he fronted This Morning alongside friend Ruth Langsford.

One viewer raved: "My dream team would be Rylan & Ruth mon-thurs and Craig & Josie on Friday."
