R Kelly 'under criminal investigation' after Surviving documentary series sparks probe

The controversial singer is being probed by police in Georgia over allegations made in the recent Lifetime's Surviving R. Kelly, reports TMZ.

Musician R Kelly strongly denies all abuse allegations made against him.

A source connected to the case told the news outlet that Fulton County District Attorney's Office is investigating the I Believe I Can Fly Singer as a direct result of the TV doc.

Cops reached out to Asante McGee who claims she escaped from Kelly’s home after allegedly being abused by the Grammy winner, TMZ reports.

The attorney representing the family of Joycelyn Savage – who has denied being held as a “sex slave” by Kelly – is also speaking to cops, claims the report.

Investigators are looking for contact details from others who have lived at the singer’s Georgia home or have knowledge of alleged incidents which occurred there, reports TMZ.

The report says cops have been flooded with calls since Surviving R. Kelly aired.

What is Surviving R Kelly about?

Surviving R Kelly has been airing on US network Lifetime.

The doc shines a spotlight on allegations of sexual and physical abuse against the R&B singer which he has strenuously denied.

Made up of six episodes, it features interviews with several women who recount their experiences – all of which Kelly denies.

TMZ has reported that the rapper did not watch the series which sources say he feels is simply part of a vendetta.
