New ‘Shazam!’ Sneak Peek Reveals More Battle Scenes

AceShowbiz -A new sneak peek of “Shazam!” was dropped by Warner Bros. Pictures on Sunday, January 20. Sharing a lot of never-before-seen footage, the less-than-one-minute video sees Zachary Levi‘s titular character showing off his power.

Young Billy Batson (Asher Angel) is seen leaping from the rooftop into the sky while saying the magic word that enables him to turn into the super-powered adult. He is seen going up against Mark Strong‘s Dr. Thaddeus Sivana.

In another scene, adult Billy in his Shazam costume tries to buy some beers at a supermarket, while the cashier doesn’t seem to be impressed by him at all. He and his friend Freddie (Jack Dylan Grazer) also try to find a lair. Seemingly poking fun at Batman, Freddie says they’re looking for a place located on a cliff “overlooking some water, splashing on rocks.”

In a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment, the video additionally reveals the first look at the Seven Deadly Sins. Director David F. Sandberg kindly pointed this out on his Instagram post, writing, “It goes by pretty quickly in the video I posted earlier so here’s a still with some neat stuff in it…”

The said Seven Deadly Sins appear in the form of statues of curious figures in what appears to a cavernous underground hall. According to the comic books, they are seven powerful demons based upon the seven deadly sins enumerated in Christianity.

“Shazam” follows streetwise 14-year-old foster kid Billy Batson who can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam by shouting out one word-SHAZAM!, courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart-inside a ripped, godlike body-Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana.

Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen and Jovan Armand star as members of Billy’s foster family, with Cooper Andrews and Marta Milans playing Billy’s foster parents. Firmly set in the DC universe but with his own distinctly fun, family-centric tone, the screenplay is by Henry Gayden, with the story by Gayden and Darren Lemke.

The movie is set for U.S. release on April 5.
