Meghan Markle’s distressed dad reveals she’s ghosted him in wake of wedding snub
Meghan Markle’s distressed dad Thomas Markle has revealed his royal daughter has ghosted him – seven months after he missed out on her wedding to Prince Harry.
Appearing today on Good Morning Britain, 74-year-old Thomas confirmed he’s been "shunned" by the royal family after a series of catastrophies leading up to the wedding in May – including being caught setting up his own paparazzi shoots and being hospitalised with a heart attack days before.
And now it seems the family feud has spiralled out of control, with Thomas claiming the Duchess of Sussex – who’s pregnant with her and Harry’s first child – hasn’t even sent him a Christmas card.
Speaking from San Diego, Mr Markle said the rift "can’t continue forever" and he would keep trying to connect with his daughter.
He went on: "I don’t plan to be silent for the rest of my life. I love my daughter very much and she has to know that, and I would really appreciate if she would call me, just reach out to me.
"There has to be a place for me. I’m here, she knows it … I need her to reach back to me."
Questioned by Piers Morgan, Mr Markle denied Meghan had a tendency to dump people if she had no use for them, saying: "That’s really not a character trait. She’s always been very polite to everyone, never been rude to anyone. I don’t know what’s really happening right now."
Thomas also revealed he still hasn’t met Harry, despite them being in a relationship for over two years now.
"I’m very disappointed by it and I’m not sure why it’s happening," he went on.
"I’ve been trying to reach out for several weeks, every day I text her I just haven’t received any contact back."
And when asked by Susanna Reid how often he’s reached out to his daughter, Thomas said: "I just keep asking her to respond back to me and I haven’t got any response back. I’ve sent letters.
"People are trying to rewrite history. Meghan and I were as close as a father and daughter could be right up until her wedding to Harry. Then it all fell apart."
