Mark Wright says Michelle is ‘100% behind me’ as he films away from home
Mark Wright’s brand-new show where he goes on a road-trip around the UK with his footballer brother, Josh Wright and dad, Big Mark begins in June on BBC One.
The trio travel around the country making new memories after the tragic loss of Big Mark’s brother, Eddie.
While the Wrights are a close-knit family at heart, they all left their wives at home to film A Wright Family Holiday.
TOWIE star Mark reveals his actress wife, Michelle Keegan, famous for her role in Corrie as Tina McIntyre and more recently Ten Pound Poms, was more than happy for him to go.
"Michelle’s supportive,” begins Mark. “She knows why I was doing it."
“Not only is it work, but at the same time, it’s spending time with my dad and my brother and we’re both so close to our families, so we both know how important it is to get that time with your loved ones. Of course I missed her, I missed her terribly.”
“Michelle’s watched a few episodes already with her mum, and they absolutely loved them – they were engrossed. I thought they were only going to watch one, but they were like 'let's watch the next one, the next one'.”
“She had a favourite episode, her mum had a favourite one – it's nice to see other people's reactions,” he adds.
The pair have been married since 2015, live in an Essex mansion and recently celebrated their 8th wedding anniversary with a visit to the US.
Mark and Michelle first met in 2012 after attending multiple events together which he revealed in former Made in Chelsea star, Jamie Laing’s podcast, Private Parts.
Mark’s footballer brother, Josh, also left his wife of six years, Hollie Kane behind and at the time, she had just given birth to their first child, Joshua.
“My son had only just been born, more or less,” says Josh. “So that was difficult to leave him for that long, obviously, where he’s literally not been around long. I missed him massively, as I did my wife. We touched base on the video calls as you do nowadays.”
“And now I've had a second one within the year which is crazy. Irish twins, so they call it, as he came prematurely.”
Their second baby, Dustin Joshua Rory Wright, was born 12 weeks early and spent 8 weeks in hospital before they could take him home.
On Hollie watching the show, Josh said: “Hollie's seen a little bit more because I've watched more or less all of them and she absolutely loved it.
“She felt the emotion and the excitement. And she said what she watched is exactly what she sees in us and knows in us and it was so real. She got emotional. She was laughing and I said to her, 'be honest, what do you think?' and she couldn't speak any higher.”
A Wright Family Holiday begins on 8th June, 8pm, BBC One and iPlayer
