Love Island’s Mitchel baffles fans as he quizzes new bombshell about her teeth

As another instalment of Love Island got underway on Wednesday, it was time for the newly single islanders to head off on dates with brand new bombshells Mal Nicol and Montel McKenzie fresh from the revelation that their previous couples had been deemed incompatible by their fellow islanders.

While Jess Harding, Mitchel Taylor,Leah Taylor and Sammy Root all got to grips with the new arrivals, each of the dates appeared to be going swimmingly, but one moment that quickly captured the attention of fans, was the bizarre moment Mitchel started to talk about teeth in the middle of his date with Mal.

The pair had been happily chatting away about what they wanted in a partner, when Mitchel abruptly complimented Mal’s teeth, and asked if they were real, after being impressed by how shiny, white and straight they were.

In an equally baffling moment, he then asked her to bare her teeth so he could have a proper look and cheekily asked if she brushed them often, to which a slightly shocked Mal awkwardly agreed that yes, she does actually brush her teeth.

The awkward exchange was soon branded “cringe-worthy” by fans, as many couldn’t understand why Mitch had decided discussing teeth was the best way to go while meeting the stunning bombshell for the first time.

Taking to social media to share their thoughts, a slew of fans were quick to call Mitch out for his faux pas, with one fan even suggesting he needed to leave the villa for his behaviour.

They wrote: “Please send Mitchel home next. Not the “do you brush ur teeth often” this man does not need to embarrass himself like this on live tv.”

A second fan commented: “I’m still shook Mitch asked a girl if she brushes her teeth often.”

While a third didn’t hold back as they commented: “I’ve literally seen a Ring doorbell flirt better than Mitch.”

Before a fourth chimed in: “Mitch talking about having things in common with Mal when all they had in common was they both brush their teeth.”

Despite the awkward exchange, Mal didn’t seem phased in the slightest once the date was over, and even continued to speak to Mitch after the date had concluded and they had returned to the villa, however whether any romantic potential will bloom, remains to be seen.

Love Island continues Sunday to Friday at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX
