We all know that legend Kylie Minogue started her career as a soap star, playing the role of Charlene Robinson in Neighbours before going on to pop superstardom.
Now, imagine what a huge moment in TV history we could have if Kylie Minogue decided to join Coronation Street.
It would be quite the TV spectacle to see her turning up in Weatherfield – maybe popping an overall on and getting stuck into some knicker machining at Underworld, or pulling a pint in the Rovers and striking up a duet with Glenda (Jodie Prenger).
That’s not quite on the cards yet but a video posted by internet phenomenon Jack Remmington to his Instagram showed that Kylie has no bother getting into character as a former Corrie favourite when he met her at the launch of her latest album Tension.
Recreating what Jack describes as his ‘favourite Corrie moment,’ Kylie has only two words to say but she gives it full attitude and a northern accent.
The definition of iconic.
The scene in question shows Gail Platt (Helen Worth) in her kitchen holding a jar of olives. ‘Would you like an Olive, Kylie?’ she asks of her daughter-in-law Kylie Platt (Paula Lane). ‘No ta,’ Kylie replies. ‘I love olives,’ retorts Gail.
There’s obviously some hidden undercurrents at play, as Gail doesn’t look like she’s enjoying the olives all that much.
But when Jack asked Kylie if she would help him recreate the scene she was fully up for it. Lounging in a chair in a green dress and thigh high boots, the Padam Padam hitmaker channels Corrie Kylie when she replies to Jack’s ‘Would you like an olive Kylie?’ before the pair crack up laughing.
‘Getting Kylie Minogue to re-enact my favourite Corrie moment with me is defo the peak of my career so the only way from here is down,’ Jack noted on his post.
Elsewhere he also posted about meeting the legend.
‘She’s the most kindhearted, humble and wonderful woman whose energy was sooo infectious and it was an honour to have been able to spend time with her being so daft. I love you @kylieminogue!!’
Kylie is no stranger to soaps, having recently reprised her role in Neighbours for what was fully expected to be the final episode ever of the Aussie soap – before it was given a very welcome reboot recently on Amazon Freevee.
In the episode we saw Kylie and Jason Donovan in their former roles as Charlene and Scott, driving into Ramsay Street with their own song, Especially For You, blasting away on the car radio.
‘Home sweet home,’ Charlene said as she surveyed the couple’s former residence. It was a huge moment in TV history.
