'Killing Eve' Season 2 Plot And Cast Details

I finally binged Killing Eve over the weekend and I can now definitively join my colleagues in calling the BBC America series one of the best TV shows of 2018. Now that I’ve watched it, I can’t stop thinking how badly I want to prance around Villanelle’s visually stunning Paris apartment draped in designer finery, a bottle of champagne in hand — all while trying to track down a killer. This spy-action thriller, based on novellas by Luke Jennings, is that good and I’m obsessed.

Sandra Oh deserves every Emmy and Golden Globe she’s nominated for (and more) thanks to her portrayal of a bored and easily fixated M15 officer (Eve). Jodie Comer (Villanelle) deserves mad love, too. It can’t be easy to flawlessly shift between European accents while giving a grade-A master class on how to make a psychopathic assassin both comedic and compelling.

Now that the Season 1 binge is over, what is this newly-minted Killing Eve fanatic to do? Thankfully, obsess over newly released details for the upcoming Season 2, including first-look photos via EWThe timing could not be more perfect. Oh is set to return as Eve Polastri, and Comer, whose character sustained some pretty critical stab wounds in the Season 1 finale, will also reprise her role as the ruthless assassin we all strangely root for. Here’s what else to know about the anticipated sophomore season. More details will be added when released.

When will Season 2 air?
We don’t have a definitive date yet, but expect new episodes spring 2019.

What will Season 2 be about?
Isn’t part of the fun of watching Killing Eve not knowing what’s going to happen next? However, we did get this plot tidbit from EW: “Eve has done something, which may have changed her forever, that will have repercussions with every relationship in her life,” executive producer Emerald Fennell said. Well, what do you expect when you stab the killer you’ve been hunting, only to see her escape?

Oh also dropped this vague but emotionally charged teaser for Season 2 via the Hollywood Reporter: “It moves from a chase to being together — in the same room. For me, it just gets so much more psychological. It’s trippy talking about it while I’m still in it, but these characters have established that they know who the other is. It just gets deeper and deeper.”

Is Phoebe Waller-Bridge penning the script for Season 2?
Nope. That role will go to executive producer Emerald Fennell. Waller-Bridge, of course, received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series for Killing Eve. She’s apparently in demand right now and hard at work on the sophomore season of Fleabag. She’ll remain attached to Killing Eve as one of its executive producers.

Is anyone new joining the Season 2 cast?
Henry Lloyd-Hughes, who played Roger Davis in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, and Shannon Tarbet (Colette) will join the returning cast in currently undisclosed roles.

More important question — is Konstantin alive?
Maybe! Look, I actually loved Konstantin, even though he decided to ditch his family and hop on a boat to escape Villanelle’s violent wrath. So I was sad to see him drop dead in the Season 1 finale. Or did he die? Eagle-eyed folks on Twitter recently
spotted Kim Bodnia filming a scene with Comer. Maybe he’s alive, or maybe his character will appear in flashbacks.

Are Niko and his mustache set to return?
I hope so. OK, his character was charming but boring, but he just wanted a happy life with his dear wife. Nothing to hate on there. I’m going to assume that Eve and Nico’s relationship is done for good, but love works in mysterious ways. Either way, more ‘stache in Season 2, please.

Anything else?
Season 2 filmed in Amsterdam, London, and Paris among other places, and has officially wrapped. We know this by this very appropriate Instagram post from Comer herself:
