JLS’ Oritse Williams spent ‘three years of hell’ during rape trial writing new album – The Sun
JLS star Oritse Williams is set to release new music he wrote during the “three years of hell” of his rape trial.
The singer, 32, was cleared of raping a fan in May following a three-year ordeal that left his life in tatters – and he’s now ready to tell his story through music.
He told The Mirror: “The music that I've made tells quite a story, I've made this music in the hardest time of my life.
“My music's about my life and my experiences over the last few years, so you know, whatever that entails.
"It's very emotional, I put my soul into it you know, I put my heart and my soul into it."
He added: “I'm just finishing my album, I'm just in the studio everyday and night.”
Last month Oritse opened up about how his life has changed since he was accused of rape in 2016.
During an interview on Good Morning Britain, he said: “It’s been horrific. I haven’t been able to work for three years. I had this accusation just hanging over my head every single day.
“From the time I wake up in the morning ‘til the time I go to sleep at night. You know, it’s just completely taunted me.
“But I had two choices; either I could let it drag me under and completely destroy me, or I could stay strong and hope that the truth would eventually come out, which ultimately it did.”
JLS split in 2013 and three years later Oritse was accused of raping a waitress after a concert at the Gorgeous Club to promote his solo album Waterline at Ramada Park Hall hotel.
And on September 12, 2018, Oritse was charged with raping the fan.
But on May 28, 2019, the singer was unanimously cleared of rape at Wolverhampton Crown Court after around two hours and 17 minutes of deliberation.
