ITV Corrie star Jodie Prenger looks completely different as she bags new role
Coronation Street's Jodie Prenger has landed a new role away from the cobbles, after surprising fans with her unrecognisable appearance.
The actress, who joined the ITV soap last year as Glenda Shuttleworth, George's sister, is known for her work on stage.
Before joining Corrie, Jodie was a West End star and started her career in cabaret in Blackpool. She shot to fame in 2008 after winning the BBC's reality show I'd Do Anything, in front of judges including John Barrowman and Andrew Lloyd-Webber, which led to her playing Nancy in Oliver in the West End.
She'd previously appeared on The Biggest Loser in 2006, shedding an incredible nine stone and winning the £25,000 prize.
Hope Mill Theatre has now announced that Jodie will star in a one-night concert production of Gypsy at the Opera House, Manchester on Sunday, 25 February next year. The special event will raise cash for Hope Mill Theatre's 'Hope for the Future' fundraising campaign.
Jodie shared her excitement about an upcoming gig, saying: "I am beyond thrilled to be a part of the upcoming Gypsy concert! It's a dream role for anyone in the theatre world, and I am honoured to have the opportunity to bring this iconic character to life. I can remember to this day playing the overture as teenager. Tears welling in my eyes and goosebumps on my forearms."
She added: "But what makes this concert even more special is that it is in support of Hope Mill Theatre. This fabulous theatre has been instrumental in nurturing and shaping future generations of theatregoers. They provide a platform for emerging talent and continuously push the boundaries of creativity. I can't wait to step on that stage and be part of something so truly special."
Recently, Jodie received lots of comments about her new look on social media. She posted a video where she was dressed up as Miss Hannigan for her role in Annie the Musical.
The caption on the video read: "When your arch nemesis is and 11-year-old girl and her friends," as Jodie lip-synced to a popular TikTok sound which says: "That girl is without a doubt the lowest, most awful creature that ever walked the planet!" These words are from the film that the musical is based on.
The video then switched to show the lead of the show, Annie, and her co-stars. She playfully mimed: "Thank you, thank you very much!" before the Natalie Cole track This Will Be began to play.
Jodie captioned the Instagram video with a cheeky message: "Bet cha bottom dollar that I love 'em really," followed by a winking face emoji.
