Inside NCIS star Rocky Carroll’s impressive career
NCIS: Actor Rocky Carrol on the success of TV show
Actor Rocky Carroll has been a longstanding NCIS cast member and is a key part of the show as Director Leon Vance, who oversees the team.
The 60-year-old actor has been part of the CBS show for the best part of 15 years but fans are wondering if he could be leaving and what else he’s up to as the SAG-AFTRA strikes rage on.
Here’s a look at Carroll’s impressive career to date and what else he’s been in.
What else has NCIS’ Leon Vance star Rocky Carroll been in?
Prior to landing the role of Vance, Carroll had starred in many other projects including Roc, Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego, Gargoyles, Chicago Hope and The Agency.
His film roles pre-NCIS included Crimson Tide, Best Laid Plans, Early Edition and Five Desperate Hours.

Carroll also had bit parts in ER, The West Wing, Family Law, Grey’s Anatomy and Denham in The IT Crowd.
However, NCIS has been his biggest project to date and it looks like he has no signs of stopping starring in the show.
Carroll has also appeared as Vance in the spin-off series NCIS: New Orleans and appeared in three episodes.
However, he is listed on IMDb as appearing in over 349 episodes of the original NCIS to date and is one of the longest-serving cast members.

Vance also turned up in NCIS: Los Angeles in 10 instalments between 2009 and 2014.
He’s even appeared in an episode of NCIS: Hawai’i, the latest spin-off from the universe.
Along with acting in front of the camera, Carroll has also been working behind the scenes on NCIS and has helmed over 20 episodes to date.
Speaking earlier this year about his role as a director, the actor told CBS News Los Angeles: “Even when I hear it out loud I’ve directed over 20 episodes, it’s pretty amazing. It seems like only yesterday that I did my first one.”
Reflecting on the staying power of NCIS, Carroll said: “When I joined the show at the end of season five, the last four episodes of season five, I said to myself, ‘At least I came in on the tail-end. I caught the tail-end run of the series. If it goes seven seasons, at least I got two seasons out of it.’ That was 15 years ago. So it is crazy.”
He continued: “I think the procedurals like NCIS have become the Westerns of our new millennia.
“As murky as justice can be in the real world, at least on NCIS you know at the end of the hour, the bad guys are going to get brought to justice and I think people respond to that.
“I know I do when I watch it. So it gives you that sense that there is good and good will win out in the end.”
While appearing and directing NCIS, Carroll has also appeared in the TV series Blue and lent his voice to the likes of Justice League: War, Glenn Martin DDS and also starred in Yes Man and The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks.
NCIS is available to watch on CBS.
