Inside Lewis Capaldi and Love Island’s Paige’s romance – and song she inspired

Over the years we've seen a lot of Love Island stars with weird and wonderful claims to fame – and this year is no different.

Singleton Paige Turley, 22, is hoping to find love in South Africa, but she's already known for being the ex-girlfriend of pop superstar Lewis Capaldi – and there's a chance she may have been the inspiration behind his hit song Someone You Loved.

The single spent seven weeks at Number 1 last year, and sees Lewis talking about a past partner that he misses.

Paige and Lewis met at college in Motherwell in 2014, and spent the next two years dating on and off.

Lewis' friends said he fell for Paige "like mad," and was "gutted" when they broke up.

Earlier this week, the Sun on Sunday reported that Paige allegedly cheated on the singer songwriter with his best friend Garry Greig, which was prompted Paige to dump Lewis.

Cue Somebody You Loved.

About the song, Lewis said: “I met a lady. She was very nice. I loved her. I loved the look of her and I loved how she spoke. We dated for a year-and-a-half, then she left me."

"Then I wrote an album about it and I still think about it every day.”

And Paige has said: "He’s never ever said to me, ‘This is about you’."

"Obviously it’s a really relatable song, for everyone."

A source told The Sun that Paige had dated Garry before she started seeing Lewis, but within a few months of dating Lewis cheated on him.

Paige and Garry started seeing each other in 2015.

They said: “Paige pretends to be a nice girl but within months of dating Lewis, she was cheating with Garry, one of his best friends."

“Lewis adored Paige and, at that time, he would have done anything for her. But she obviously didn’t feel the same or she wouldn’t have betrayed him."

Paige didn't tell Lewis she would be jetting off to South Africa to be a contestant of the show but said : “Me and Lewis are still very, very friendly. "

"I think Lewis will find the fact I’m on the show quite funny.

"So he’ll probably make a total joke about it."

But now Paige is single and ready to find the man of her dreams – that's where Love Island comes in. We wonder who will be her type on paper…
