Inside I'm A Celeb's John Barrowman's star-studded civil partnership ceremony with Doctor Who actors, Scottish traditions and his beloved pets dogs
The pair had their ceremony in Cardiff, where Doctor Who spin-off Torchwood was filmed, at the St David’s Hotel.
The pair met in 1993 when they were starring in a production of Rope together at the Chichester Festival Theatre.
The ceremony was attended around 40 people, including John’s Doctor Who and Torchwood stars such as Eve Myles and writer Russell T Davies.
In homage to his Scottish roots, John and Scott both wore tartan to match their pets.
John told the BBC at the time: "It's going to be just a few people. We'll have our close family and friends and the cast of Torchwood."
"We'll have a brunch and buffet, although it can only be between 11am and 2pm as I'm appearing in pantomime later.
"It'll be a real family celebration."
When John headed off to star in Jack and the Beanstalk after the ceremony, Scott stayed at the hotel to party on with the guests.
John added: "Scott's already seen [the panto] twice".
The star revealed that he “welled up” on the big day – as he did when he and Scott got married formally in California in 2013.
Though they had their civil partnership in the UK, gay marriage didn’t become legal in the UK until 2014.
He told The Mirror in 2014: “I started welling up when we said our vows [in 2013]. It was the same with our civil partnership in 2006."
He continued: "I think it was because I never thought we’d be able to do it. Scott and I felt completely different after our civil ceremony, like we’d made a big step.”
“Maybe I would have got married in the UK, but put it this way, the UK hadn’t passed the law. And we already did our civil partnership here.”
