I’m A Celebrity South Africa’s future ‘confirmed’ after ITV u-turn
Myleene Klass named I’m a Celebrity… South Africa champion
Fans have been glued to I’m A Celebrity…South Africa for the past several weeks as former contestants returned to the jungle to compete for the title of I’m A Celebrity Legend.
However, it appears the overall winner Myleene Klass may not hold the title for too long, as it has been reported the show will return in the future following encouraging ratings.
The show launched to great fanfare with ITV’s highest weekday audience this year, peaking at 4.9million viewers with an average of 4.3 million viewers.
This is the highest rating for any channel so far this year in the Monday 9pm slot in which it launched.
It’s also more than double the year-on-year slot, up by over 2million viewers.
Overall, the show averaged around five million viewers each episode and was the most-watched programme on TV each night.
“Show chiefs feel that there is plenty of scope to do more,” a source reportedly told The Sun.
“They have more than 200 ex-campmates to choose from — there could even be certain themes such as all-male, villains, or jungle shower legends.
“It was very much commissioned as a one-off so talks about how and when it could return are only just beginning, but ITV wanted to preserve the format for the future.
“It definitely wouldn’t be a yearly occurrence, but a format to revisit periodically.”

The recent series featured a number of big names from previous series alongside Myleene, including former cricketer Phil Tufnell, actor Joe Swash, nutritionist Gillian McKeith and one-time royal butler Paul Burrell.
This barely scratched the surface of the couple of hundred ex-campmates who have braved the show over the years leaving producers with a huge roster of memorable stars to choose from.
One former campmate who has expressed an interest in returning is Katie Price.
She famously appeared on the show in 2004 where she met her ex-husband, Peter Andre.
The couple went on to marry and have two children and she thinks they would be a great addition to the next series.
In an open Q&A with her Instagram followers, she made her feelings clear.
“A lot of people are saying, am I doing I’m A Celeb? No, but I’m interested in this show,” she revealed.
“Apparently, they’re already out there filming with ‘the legends. I don’t think they’re legends,” she commented.
“Imagine, if they had me and Pete on it. Imagine,” she teased.
When Express.co.uk contacted ITV for comment they said:” We won’t be commenting on the Sun story and it’s speculation by them regarding the shows return.”
