Iain Stirling congratulates girlfriend Laura Whitmore after landing Love Island gig – The Sun

IAIN Stirling has taken to Instagram to congratulate girlfriend Laura Whitmore after she was named the new host of Love Island.
The show's voiceover man, 31, revealed he is "delighted" to have the Irish presenter join him in South Africa for the show's upcoming winter edition.
ITV confirmed today that the 34-year-old will be taking on the coveted job when the show kicks off on the 12th of January.
Iain wrote on his Instagram Stories: "Delighted to have @thewhitemore join the #loveisland team."
However, despite his excitement, the announcement is a bitter sweet one for Iain.
The funnyman shares a close friendship with former host Caroline Flack, who stood down from the gig earlier this week after she was arrested for assault following an early-hours bust-up at her home.
He admitted he was "sad" the presenter wouldn't be joining him for the sixth season, adding: "Whilst I'm sad @carolineflack won't be joining our team in South Africa for the first ever Winter Love Island, I understand her decision to step down from the series.
"And she should be SO proud of her achievements over our many series! X."
Earlier this week, The Sun revealed that Laura had been locked in meetings with ITV and was favourite to take over the job from the 40-year-old.
Following today's announcement, Laura said: "To say I’m excited to be heading to Cape Town to host Love Island, the biggest show on television, is an understatement.
"I want to thank ITV for trusting me at the helm of this huge show. I wish it was in better circumstances; Caroline is a brilliant host and also a friend. We’ve spoken a lot in the last few days since she stepped down.
"She has been very kind to me and strongly pushed me for this role. I’ve watched her host every series and know I have big boots to fill. I will try and do it justice."
She added: "Above all, I am a massive fan of this show. I’ve never been to a Love Island villa, and I can’t wait to get in there to meet all the new Islanders looking for love.

"The Love Island team are the best in the business… including the voice and heart of the show, Iain. He thought he was getting a holiday away from me… not a chance!"
Caroline quit her role after police charged her with assault following a 5am row at her home last week.
A TV source said: “Producers know they have a duty of care to Caroline. They already make sure Love Island contestants are offered counselling and therapy if they need it and Caroline has been offered the same.
"She had felt let down by them after being forced to walk away from the show.”
