Home and Away’s Shane Parrish star Dieter Brummer dies at home aged 45

Home and Away star Dieter Brummer, who played Shane Parrish on the Australian soap, has died at 45.
The actor was found dead at home in Glenhaven, near Sydney after a police welfare check.
NSW Police confirmed his death was not being treated as suspicious.
They told MailOnline: "About 1.30pm (Saturday 24 July 2021), officers from The Hills Police Area Command responded to reports of a concern for welfare at a home on Glenhaven Road, Glenhaven,' a police spokesperson said.
"The body of a man was located inside the home. His death is not believed to be suspicious. A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner."
Brummer played heartthrob Shane Parrish on Home and Away from 1992 to 1996, earning legions of fans with his most notable storyline with Angel Brooks, played by Melissa George.
Shane was killed off the soap from septicaemia (blood poisoning), which Dieter later claimed he had asked for after "hating" working with George.
He told Woman's Day in 2012: "We may have been love interests on the show but the chemistry was far from real!"
After leaving the soap, he went on to star in hospital drama Medivac and crime series Underbelly: A Tale of Two Cities, as well as roles in Neighbours and Winners & Losers.
Brummer then decided to retire from acting and was running his own window-cleaning business, according to Sydney's The Daily Telegraph.
Meanwhile, George went on to have success in Hollywood, starring in Grey's Anatomy, The Good Wife and The Amityville Horror.
Tributes have poured in for the actor, with family friend Steve Comey writing on Facebook: "Heartbreaking news.
"We have lost a free spirit. Vale Dieter Brummer. Way too young. Way too soon. My sincerest, deepest condolences to his beautiful sister Karlene and all of Dieters family & friends. Keep flying young fella."
Author Nigel Giles wrote: "Vale Dieter Brummer, best known as Shane Parrish on Home and Away."
A spokesperson for Seven, the channel on which Home and Away airs in Australia, issued a statement, saying: "Home and Away and Channel 7 are deeply saddened to hear of Dieter Brummer’s passing.
"Dieter was a much-loved Home and Away cast member and celebrated by Australian and international audiences for his award-winning portrayal of Shane Parrish. We send our sincere condolences to Dieter’s family and friends during this very difficult time."
