Hollyoaks is the biggest British soap when it comes to producing Hollywood stars with 12 cast including Ricky Whittle and Rachel Shenton breaking the US

Many superstars star on soaps, and it's been discovered that UK actors have the best chance of making it big if they start on the Channel 4 show.

Last year, ex-soapstars Rachel Shenton and Chris Overton picked up the Oscar for best live action short film last year with The Silent Child.

Rachel wrote the screenplay and starred in the short, while her fiancé Chris directed it.

And since his character Calvin Valentine was killed off in 2010, Ricky Whittle has appeared in various series on American telly, such as hit drama American Gods, Single Ladies and Mistresses.

James Corden even had a guest role in Hollyoaks back in 2000, long before he became a household name in America.

Other stars who have been catapulted into fame after starting on the soap include Nathalie Emmanuel and Emmett J Scanlan.

Nathalie has appeared in massive films such as Maze Runner and Fast and Furious 7 – and she even bagged a role in huge TV series Game of Thrones.

And according to blog Kaleidoscope, EastEnders is the second best soap for young actors, as it produced 10 Hollywood big names.

Ben Hardy, who played Peter Beale in 189 episodes, made his film debut as Archangel in the superhero film X-Men: Apocalypse.

He then went on to play Roger Taylor in the box office smash Bohemian Rhapsody, which was released last year.

On the other hand, Danny Dyer, who currently stars in Enders as Mick Carter, went from starring in films such as The Football Factory to acting in Walford.
