Heartbeat’s Nick Berry unrecognisable seven years on after quitting acting

Heartbeat star Nick Berry was spotted walking his dog out and about, and the actor looked unrecognisable years after quitting acting.

Nick, 56, decided to quit acting seven years ago after playing many iconic roles on television, including the hunky PC Nick Rowan in Heartbeat from 1992 until 1998.

His impressive TV career also included playing Simon Wicks for five years in EastEnders, from 1985 until 1990.

Now a stay-at-home dad to his two sons, Nick was seen walking with his adorable toy poodle.

The former television actor was wrapped up warm in a big green coat and scarf, while donning a pair of sunglasses.

The former full-time actor quit his soap TV lifestyle to be a stay-at-home dad for sons Louis and Finley.

He married fellow actress Rachel Robertson back in 1994, with the pair raising their family in Essex.

Despite saying that he would never rule-out returning to a career in television, Nick said he was "happy" with his new life.

He revealed that acting left him with less time to be with his children.

Back in 2011, the Heartbeat icon told The Daily Mail when he decided to walk away from acting: "I chose to be a stay-at-home dad and have loved it.

"I always said that when the boys were teenagers I could go back, but the longer you don't do something the harder it is to do it, and I haven't really missed it.

"While I'd never say never, I'm genuinely happy as I am."

Nick continued: "The job was great. You're driven everywhere, fed every five minutes and told what to do and where to go.

"What I struggled with was that the boys were very young and I felt like I was away filming all the time.

"I'd been blessed with these little people and yet I wasn't really there. I realised I wanted to be at home."
