Gladiators fans sent into meltdown as BBC teases start date
Gladiators for the new series named
BBC has teased the start date of the new Gladiators reboot as the hit 90s game show gears up to return to our screens. The broadcaster shared a short clip on the official Gladiators Instagram for their 12,000 followers to see.
The broadcaster released the opening sequence of the upcoming show, with a sparkly new logo while retaining the iconic theme tune we all know and love. The caption teased: “ARE YOU READDDYYYY? #Gladiators coming soon to @BBC and #iPlayer.”
As well as the logo, the BBC also posted a group shot of the brand new crop of gladiators who were previously announced. The group of bodybuilders can be seen posing in their tight lycra outfits as they flex their muscles for the snap.
Fans rushed to the comment section to share their excitement and anticipation over the iconic show’s return. One person said: “Can’t wait. The original series was a huge part of my childhood. Can’t wait to watch with my wife and son.”
Another fan expressed: “I think the BBC is going to nail this.” A third added: “Can’t wait. Love this show!!,” while a fourth wrote: “So excited for this!! Can’t wait to see @nitro_thegladiator in action.”

The 11-part series is expected to air in January 2024 and will be hosted by Bradley Walsh and his son Barney.
The format of Gladiators is tournament-based with seperate male and female competitors.
In each episode, two females and two males compete against a group of elite bodybuilders called the ‘Gladiators with only one female and one male progressing to the final and winning the show.
The original show was first broadcast on ITV on October 1992 and ran for eight years, before coming to an end in January 2000.

Over the course of the eight series, the show had three main presenters, Ulrika Jonsson, John Fashanu and Jeremy Guscott.
The success of the British series spawned a version in Australia and other countries as part of a franchise, while a children’s spin-off aired between 1995 and 1998.
Gladiators is expected to air in 2024 on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
