Lorraine: Adam Frost on why Gardeners’ World is not on tonight

Adam Frost, who hosts Gardners’ World alongside Monty Don addressed the BBC Two show being taken off air this evening (Friday, July 14) during an appearance on the latest instalment of Lorraine.

The beloved programme Gardeners’ World usually airs on Fridays at 7pm on BBC Two, but it is being replaced by the First Night of the Proms.

Clive Myrie will be presenting the classical music spectacle live from the Royal Albert Hall, in London, as the festival is launched.

ITV host Lorraine Kelly told Adam: “It’s outrageous Gardeners’ World isn’t on tonight because of The Proms, but it’s back next Friday.

Adam added: “It’s back next week and his lordship is back next week after a couple of weeks off.”

Responding to the news about host Monty Don’s return, Lorraine said: “That’s good, I’m very glad about that.”

Earlier on in the interview, when Adam handed Lorraine a bouquet of British flowers, she said: “How lovely, you can come back any time, thank you so much. They are beautiful.”

He kissed the Scottish broadcaster on the cheek before he quipped: “This is my last day in television, I am retiring after today. I’ve made it.

“I’ve been telling everyone who has asked what I am doing on Friday that I am having a cup of coffee with Lorraine.”

The 53-year-old garden designer is known for his successes at the Chelsea Flower Show, winning seven gold medals at the annual event.

He joined Gardeners’ World back in 2016 and quickly became a firm favourite among its legion of viewers.

The Proms will be taking place between today and September 9, with 72 events taking place within that timeframe.

This year’s season features an eclectic range of programming from Berlioz to Bollywood as well as Proms debuts and intimate chamber concerts.

The Proms were founded more than a century ago in 1895 and are now organised and broadcast by the BBC.

BBC bosses announced earlier this year that this season will be opened and closed by female conductors.

Gardeners’ World usually airs on Fridays at 7pm on BBC Two and episodes are available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
