Fury as ‘hundreds of kids crying’ in blistering cold after refused entry to TGD

Hundreds of children were left crying in freezing cold conditions after being refused entry to watch the first live shows of The Greatest Dancer – despite waiting for hours in the queue with tickets.

Furious parents hit out at the BBC One show, which features Cheryl, Matthew Morrison and Oti Mabuse, after being told that the tickets had oversubscribed.

Some mums and dads travelled from as far away as Newcastle with their children and were told to get "glammed up" for the event at LH2 Studios, Park Royal in London.

However, according to one angry queuer, this meant that some 12-year-old girls in dresses were waiting outside in freezing conditions.

And in one shocking occasion, a mother told The Mirror that the crowd had pleaded for a young woman in a wheelchair to be let in – only for the event organisers to flatly refused.

However on tickets audience members are told that there is a possibility that they will not be able to enter due to oversubscribing and advises people to queue early.

Mum Catherine Peters travelled all the way from Milton Keynes with her husband and son and said that they had been emailing her all week telling her to get "glammed up".

"We drove an hour and a half to get there and there were thousands of people queuing all with tickets," she told us. "After hours of with my husband and son waiting in the cold they say it’s over subscribed and they didn’t get the share of the audience they were expecting."

Catherine said: "There were at least 2000 people outside with at a guess 500 kids crying. Some people travelling from the likes of Newcastle and Scotland to get turned away. A complete scam."

"They are breaking kids’ hearts. The celebrities that endorse this kind of behaviour do not care about their young fans," she told us emotionally. "Young girls in skirts and high heels in minus 2 waiting for four hrs then told go away."

She shockingly added: "The crowd were pleading for a young woman in a wheelchair to be let in and they flatly refused."

Other queuers flocked to Twitter in outrage and blasted their "disgusting" treatment.

One tweeted: "I have just stood out in the freezing temperature for 4 and half hours to be told I won’t be in to see the show tonight. After being told time and time again we will be in. I am DISGUSTED in the treatment. Young children crying."

While another wrote: "Horrified by the disgusting organisation of #GreatestDancer ~ waited outside for over 3 hours in real feel -6’c only to be told @7pm that we wouldn’t be allowed in even so we had ‘so called tickets’~ 100’s of people sent away. Young, old & disabled amongst them."

The Mirror has contacted The Greatest Dancer for comment.
