From Walford to Shetland: Two EastEnders legends spotted in new episodes

Series 7 of Shetland is currently airing on BBC One and so far, fans have spotted two former EastEnders stars.

Laurie Brett, who played Jane Beale in the soap, made her arrival in the opening episode playing Alison Woods.

We don’t know much about Alison so far, except that she’s new to open water swimming and got into a bit of difficulty in the lake and had to be helped by Connor (Nick Nunn), who Jimmy (Douglas Henshall) and his team are currently trying to find.

In last night’s episode, Jimmy made his way to Glasgow to gather information on Danny (Andrew Whipp), Connor’s father who spent time behind bars for murder.

During his investigation, he met another former copper called Jill – played by Simone Lahbib – who portrayed the role of Katy Lewis in EastEnders.

Katy made her arrival to Walford in 2020, coming face to face with Mick Carter (Danny Dyer), who she abused when he was a child in care.

The storyline also saw Mick meet Frankie (Rose Ayling-Ellis); the child Katy gave birth to as a result of her abuse to Mick.

Elsewhere, Simone is also known for her role as G-Wing governor Helen Steward in Bad Girls, which also featured EastEnders’ Linda Henry and Emmerdale’s Claire King.
