Friends star Matthew Perry worries fans by revealing he's been 'kicked out of therapy'

The 49-year-old actor, who has battled addiction for many years, sparked concern on Twitter amongst his 1.26million followers following the post.

The TV star wrote: "I got kicked out of therapy today."

Leaving his fans alarmed, many worriedly replied and shared their concerns.

One follower passionately penned: "Please feel better I hope you’re okay. You deserve love and happiness.

"You made me laugh when I was having rough times and always got me through it. You’re a brilliant, talented man and some day I believe you’ll see light in life.

"Addiction and depression will not rule you."

"I don't know what is going on, but I hope you are alright and have people to support you," another commented.

A third wrote: "Reach out to someone who can give you immediate help, man. Let them help you get to a better therapist, a better way forward.

"But most importantly, help you in these early hours from a bad event. Don't mean to preach, just truly love you as a fan who is grateful."

His social media post comes five months after he revealed he spent three months in hospital following a secret surgery.

The actor, who played Chandler Bing in hit sitcom Friends, underwent an operation to fix a ruptured bowel over the summer.

Matthew broke the news to fans in September in a light-hearted tweet, joking: "Three months in a hospital bed. Check."

He suffered a gastrointestinal perforation, also known as a ruptured bowel, which can be a hole in the stomach, large bowel or small intestine.

The operation is believed to have taken place in a hospital in Los Angeles over the summer.

A representative for the star previously confirmed Matthew was having the surgery at the time and said: "He is grateful for the concern and asks for continued privacy as he heals."

A gastrointestinal perforation can be caused by a number of factors including trauma, or a condition such as appendicitis.

Matthew has undergone a number of health battles in the past and has previously been open about his battle with painkiller addition.

The TV funnyman became hooked on booze and pills after a jet ski accident in 1997 left him in agony.

He went through two stints in rehab – in 1997 and in 2001 – and spent years getting back to full health.

Mathew previously told The Hollywood Reporter: "You can’t have a drug problem for 30 years and then expect to have it solved in 28 days… Getting sober is a really hard thing to do.

"The best thing about me is that an alcoholic can come up to me and say 'can you help me? and I can say 'yes I can'.

"‘The fact that I’m on TV makes people listen a little bit more, and I take advantage of that."
