FOX’s ‘Rent’ to Use Pre-Recorded Segments Following Cast Member’s Foot Injury

AceShowbiz -FOX’s upcoming “Rent (2019)” live broadcast is facing a glitch a day before the premiere. It is reported that cast member Brennin Hunt, who is set to play singer-songwriter Roger Davis in the production, suffered a broken ankle during dress rehearsal on Saturday, January 26. The show, however, will go on as scheduled.

The actor took to his Instagram Stories to share a video of his cast, confirming his injury. In the footage, the show’s costumiers sewing him into a pair of pants that had to be customized to accommodate the cast.

According to a source, Hunt will still appear at the live production with the producers reportedly planning to use pre-recorded segments from the Saturday rehearsal for the broadcast. It is also said that they are going to re-stage some portions of the show to assist Hunt who doesn’t have an understudy.

“Last night during a live performance of FOX’s production of ‘Rent’, one of the actors, Brennin Hunt, was injured,” FOX Entertainment and 20th Century Fox Television said in a joint statement. “But in the spirit of ‘Rent’, everyone — producers and cast, original and current — is dedicated to ensuring that tonight’s broadcast must, and will, go on.”

“The experience of putting together this beautiful new production of my brother’s work, while emotional, has been truly joyous for all of us,” producer Julie Larson, the sister of late Jonathan Larson who penned the original “Rent”, added. “This new cast has embodied the spirit of the show from day one and they embraced Brennin with positive and uplifting love in his moment of need.”

” ‘Rent’ has always been about resilience and community. I speak from my heart when I say that we have a spectacular show for you tonight. We can’t wait for a new generation to experience Jonathan’s legacy,” she concluded.

In addition ot Hunt, the new three-hour production stars Jordan Fisher as documentary filmmaker Mark Cohen, Brandon Victor Dixon as college professor Tom Collins, Tinashe as night owl Mimi Marquez, Valentina as drag queen Angel Dumott Schunard, Vanessa Hudgens as artist/activist Maureen Johnson, Kiersey Clemons as lawyer Joanne Jefferson and Mario as traitor-to-the-cause Benjamin Coffin III. “Rent” will premiere on January 27 at 8 P.M. on FOX.
