Fangoria Chainsaw Award nominees: Halloween, Hereditary, A Quiet Place, more
Critically-acclaimed horror hits Hereditary and A Quiet Place received little love from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Tuesday, with the former ending up with no Oscar nominations and the latter getting a single nod, for Best Sound Editing. But the two films were very much embraced by horror magazine Fangoria which has just released its list of nominations for the title’s annual Chainsaw Awards.
Both Hereditary and A Quiet Place are nominated for Best Wide-Release Movie, alongside Halloween, Overlord, and Upgrade. Hereditary cast members Toni Collette, Alex Wolff, and Milly Shapiro also received acting nominations while filmmaker Ari Aster was recognized in the Best Director and Best Screenplay categories. A Quiet Place, meanwhile, secured further nominations for Best Actress (Emily Blunt), Best Supporting Actress (Milly Shapiro), and Best Director (John Krasinski). Other films to receive multiple nominations include the Nicolas Cage-starring Mandy, Suspiria, and Anna and the Apocalypse.
